Marilena Sutera has been working for years using engraving and serigraph printing techniques. She’s also a painter and a video artist.
She masters these techniques and she overlays them in some evocative ways, always finding new expressive solutions.
Marilena Sutera looks for balance in the relationships between shapes, marks and meanings. She invents metaphysical landscapes, searching for a center between suspended shapes and empty spaces. She depicts dreamlike characters who belong to the absolute, originating from dreams and visions or from the collective unconscious.
These characters, who look like sacred icons, emerge from landscapes where the center has been found again. They are fearless guardians of a beauty constantly fluctuating.
